Sounds Box

Happy Halloween!

I have made a discovery that is both notable and important for all the readers of this blog. As you both know, itunes charges minimum 99c for songs, with popular ones 40% more (at least). Not anymore! Through the interwebs, I have come across a gem ahead of its time, and I am only worried it may not last forever. 14c per song, (so albums are 1.50 or less!)

Thats right. A heaven you can dance your little heart to without breaking out the economic turntables (or should i say intergalactic?)

www.soundsbox.com

also, lala.com allows you to play whatever you want on the interwebs, for FREE!

Enjoy this too:

P.S. Please let me know albums/songs i should download!

A Tale of Two Unlucky Irish Folks

(Spoken in broken Leprechaun...think "They're always after me lucky charms...")

There once was a lassy named Julie, who was planning to visit Ireland for two weeks with her beloved lad, Blake. Julie worked hard and slaved over two jobs to afford a very much needed two week vacation, and by the time the trip rolled around, she had saved enough shillings for a good ole' Irish time in the Emerald Isle.

Blake was working hard too, planning activities, booking accommodations, renting cars, etc. It seemed like Blake and Julie were ready to go...But then, of course, Blake and Julie wouldn't be Blake and Julie without some sort of calamity occurring before a trip to the Lucky Land of Ireland. To make things interesting, Blake was visited by a sneaky ol' Leprechaun who placed Blake's passport in his pant pocket before Blake did a rather large load of laundry. While folding clothes and placing them into his pack two days before the trip, Blake noticed a wadded up piece of paper...aka, his passport. In order to salvage the trip, Blake flew off to Houston and begged a kind old woman to give him a new passport and save him from The Lochness Monster (aka Julie). The lady took pity on Blake and told him he would have his golden ticket by 2:30 p.m., which means Blake would make his flight back to The City of Fountains and the trip to Ireland would be saved...thats considering if Blake has the luck o' the Irish on his side.

Will Blake get his passport in time, will the trip to Ireland be salvaged, will Julie turn into the Lochness Monster? Who knows, but while you're waitin' for your answer, go have a drink for me...preferably Guiness.

Daniel, you said I could do this, so I'm gonna. I do enjoy me some country, especially Sugarland. I love Jennifer Nettles voice! She just has this happy, twangy sound to her music that makes me want to dance:)

electric feel me up

hey!

so this is way over due... and i don't have too much time to go into er'rything, but i think its important to get it out there more than the delay for good measure:

MGMT: Electric feel. this is the song of last weekend when i went skiing in tahoe. i had been hearing it since summer, but it finally clicked in to be awesome this weekend. other notables on the album: Kids and The Youth.

Bon Iver: I had mentioned him before... he's made the cut. like jose gonzales, with a bit of drums. still super good.

Johann Johannson: AWESOME. Icelandic goodness at its best... kinda sigor ros-ish, but different, but awesome. ohh... that just made me think of the baby killer in belgium. but its not like that at all... JJ is pure happy happy goodness robot fun, with less electronica than sigur ros (which if you don't know of, is super awesome, good study music/sleep music... and they created their own language which all the songs are in... icelandic intonations, but entirely elvish in that way!)

Marlena Shaw: kick back from like the 60's or 70's. power voice... good muzak.

speaking of muzak, there is the vitamin string quartet that does popular music via cello and viola and 2 others... good times with the kickbacks!

just started listening to a band called "Why?" but not sure they're going to make the cut.

sorry i didn't write sooner or include vids or awesome pics...

respect.

Paradise by the Dashboard Light

I just stumbled across Meat Loaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" and I had to make it my first post of the year 2009. There's just a few things that need to be pondered before I go right into the video. First off, why would he choose the name Meat Loaf? I mean who really enjoys eating meatloaf? I'm gonna go out on a limb, but I'm guessing really only the elderly enjoy meatloaf because 1) It's good on the gums and 2) They've lost their taste buds. Secondly, the name Meat Loaf is not a flattering one.
Ok enough said. Gross. Moving on...I love this song. It makes me laugh and whenever I hear it I want to just belt out the female solo..."Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life? Will you take me away and and will you make me your wife?" Hahaha! YES! This is also a ridiculously long song...8 1/2 minutes! It is also a very strange music video and you can really tell Meat Loaf is feeling it.

Slumdog Millionaire

I've been waiting to long for some epic inspiration so i could update the huge number of fans on this online diary!

Slumdog Millionaire... best movie i've seen in a while. and i've watched a lot of movies recently. the scenary really makes me want to go travel, the music was a perfect mix of indian flava and hip hop... at perfect times. i've never so noticibly been emotionally attached to the highs and lows of a movie which blended from one experience to another. i laughed, cried, anticipated, epiphanized... you name it! seriously, you two readers (you know who you are) you must see this movie together STAT (p.s. i've liked saying that word in the ER recently except adding "istically". for example if someone asks me to do an ekg, i ask if they need it STATistically, or just normal speed... i'm awesome).

anyways, since the music is so awesome in the movie, you might have to wait to see it in theaters statistically before you listen below, but if you must get your aural fixation, i have included some clutchness below.
