kanye dig it? training montage!

so i never thought i'd really get into than kan kan, but his latest album is pretty hot. not a big fan of gangster hip hop like certain other key members of this blog, but i was pleasently surprised by the variation of musicality that 808's and heartbreaks bring to the table. Notables: "Paranoid" and "Love Lockdown"

But in the greatest news ever, I have finally bought the Rocky IV Soundtrack!! And it is just as perfect as i always imagined. It includes one of my favorite songs of all time: The training montage by Vince DiCola . Other notables include Heart's on Fire! (featured in the second half of the vid below). This may be the greatest contribution to this post to date.

Put a ring on it, biyatch!

Ok, Daniel, don't hate me, but I love Beyonce's new single "Single Ladies." It just makes me want to get up off my ba-donka-donk and shake my jelly.

rock band vs. karaoke

this will be short. i've been playing rock-band recently.. what a buzz. what buzz. although its still not quite as good as karaoke (think: Bon Jovi livin on a prayer, or Bonnie Tylers holding out for a hero) it is a great show case of my dual drumming and DDR skillz...i may have born to be a rock band drummer.

Capturing the Friedmans

Yo Julie.. good call on Jose... and defnitely cracked out video... i listened to it as i was going to bed... and those fingers in the music video might have given me nighthorses (mares).

anyways.. in the music realm: the day my awesome mountain bike that got stolen, my random friend who works pulled up as i was walking home, and handed me a cd. seriously, it was perfect (and i got a ride home!) holla.

the cd: Sigur Ros. it is awesome mostly because they made up their own language for their band to sing in (icelandic influences) the first song is called gobbledigook. its their newest cd... don't know how to spell it in english. haha. but it has 4 naked people running across the the freeway, can't miss it : D

on a brighter note, i saw an amazingly devastating movie yesterday: Capturing the Freidmans. I highly recommend it. its a documentary about a family where the father and son are accused of sodomy, and the real kicker is that you are left leaving the movie uncertain if it was true or not. an amazing story. amazing. amaz. a.

Jose Gonzalez

I am a HUGE fan of Jose Gonzalez! He is a folk singer/songwriter of Argentina descent from Sweden! His trademark sound is a solo guitar. This is my current favorite song of his:)

p.s. The video is kinda cracked out!

Girl Talk

Yo... so just to catch everyone up... Girl Talk is the sheeze-neeze. Combining todays dance hits with old favs from primarily 80's and 90's (a bass line here, a catchy lyric there). Result you might ask? Pure gold. Alchemy in a way. Except its pure. If there's one thing in life i like its pure. or truth. or justice. by girl talk should just keep crankin out my favs with others i don't really know. thinking of it... i want a sandwich. (i'll let the dj know)

Revenge of the Female Artists

So, I love female artists. Yes, male artists play the guitar really well and I am often surprised by their touching lyrics. But man, female artists just get me every time. Ever listen to www.pandora.com? Its an online radio website, where you choose an artist that you like and then they provide you with a selection of similar artists. I created a station based off of one of my favorite artists "A Fine Frenzy," and I have come to love a lot of great, new female artists because of this station. Here are just a few of my faves:

1. A Fine Frenzy
- Near to You
- Minnow and the Trout
- Almost Lover

2. Priscilla Ahn
- Dream
- Raining

3. Kerri Noble
- Ooh-oh
- Love, love, love this song and you can have a listen if you click on this site: http://www.imeem.com/people/2acQN4q/music/ju0dH_1p/keri_noble_ooh_oh/

4. Sara Bareillis
- Many the Miles
- Love song
- Gravity

5. Teagan and Sara
- My number

This is all I will give you for now! I have sooo many more, but I don't want to spoil your breakfast. Eat up and enjoy.

Orbital Bee-bop

Word! This is my official first blog... and what a doosie its going to be!

First, there is an awesome cd i just downloaded from ruckus by the Kings of Leon called Only by the Night. And to help put things in perspective... it usually takes me about 4 listens through to make a verdict on an album, or any new music (this blog will be tough in that sense)... but this one is gold. enjoy.

So first hurdle... the embedded function of this youtube action i want to share says "embedding disabled by request". So check it out html direct. Its a song called dream catch me by newton faulkner... kind of the song of last month for me.

I came across some other vids i need to share... kid humor for starters

And spelling bee awesomeness... his face at the end is better than a master card:

I want a Sandwich

Me and my buddy, Daniel, came to a realization after this first minute we met each other. Besides both having amazing curly hair, we both love to discover new songs, new artists, new genres of music, etc. So after emailing/facebooking music back and forth to each other...we decided to co-blog together...sounds dirty, doesn't it? Well get your head out of the gutter, because this blog is all about the music! Rock on!

Current Favs:
Julie's Picks
1. Jose Gonzalez - "Heartbeats"
2. Amos Lee - "Colors"
3. Mat Kearney - "Breath In, Breathe Out"
4. John Butler Trio - "Better than"
